Mommy finds out she is pregnant.  Daddy thinks that mommy is playing an April Fool's joke on daddy.  Surprise!
 
November 16, 2005

Savannah is born at 1:31 p.m. via C-section.  She weighs 4 pounds, 15 ounces, and is 17 3/4 inches long
Both her femurs are broken at birth, the cord is wrapped around her neck twice and she is blue.  Her joints are drawn tight and she rigid and unable to move

 
November 16, 2005

A few hours after birth, Savannah is life flighted to the University of Alabama's Children's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama

 
November 19, 2005

Savannah is diagnosed with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita

 
November 20, 2005
Mommy gets realeased from the hospital in Dothan and has Grandma & Grandpa Shover drive to Birmingham

The nurses begin to feed Savannah breastmilk via a stomach IV
 
November 22, 2005
Savannah is improving and she can breathe without the aide of the ventilator for short periods

Savannah begins to take milk in via a tube running in from her mouth and down into her stomach
 
November 23, 2005
Savannah can suck on a pacifier for a few seconds at a time

She can take a bottle now, but only for a few seconds

Mommy holds Savannah for the first time
 
November 25, 2005
Mommy is readmitted into the hospital for a serious infection
 
November 28, 2005
Savannah begins to decline
The Neonatal ICU calls up in the middle of the night and need permission to do a blood transfusion.
 
November 29, 2005
Savannah's liver is not working properly and requires another blood transfusion

Early in the evening, Savannah aspirates on her milk.  Her heart stops and she is without oxygen for 15 to 20 minutes.  She is now brain dead and requires a ventilator to breathe
 
November 30, 2005
Mommy is discharged from the hospital again

Daddy and mommy struggle with what has happened the previous night 

Savannah is unresponsive
 
December 1, 2005

Chaplain comes to Birmingham to bless Savannah

Savannah gets her wings
With family present, Mommy rocks Savannah to sleep while her ventilator is turned off

 
December 2, 2005
Mommy and Daddy leave the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham and come back to Fort Rucker
 
December 6, 2005
With friends and family present, Savannah's first memorial is held at the Chapel of Wings on Fort Rucker
 
December 9, 2005
Savannah is laid to rest in a small cemetery outside of Alva, OK.  She is among her Great-great grandparents and other family members
